Dietanova Introduces King Oscar Mackerel To Kindergartners

Through a series of “Little Dietitian” cooking workshops, Dietanova has begun introducing kindergartners in Poland to skinless and boneless mackerel from King Oscar. Dietanova is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching and supporting healthy eating in everyday life for people of all ages.

After the first event, Dietanova reports that the school children truly enjoyed the mackerel from King Oscar – and that the adults in the school were thrilled as well! A sample recipe from the Little Dietitian program is below. Try it, you’ll like it!

Pirate Salad

1 can King Oscar Mackerel in Water, drained
125g cottage cheese (or feta, finely chopped or grated)
1-2 fresh bell peppers (mix yellow and red for fun)
1 cucumber
1 bunch fresh chives
1 cup natural yogurt
Ground pepper, to taste

Dice the bell peppers and the cucumber. Chop the chives. Drain and then mash the fish with a fork. Mix all together, with cheese. Add enough yogurt to obtain a relatively loose consistency, as desired. Season with pepper. Serve chilled in small bowls.

Serve salad atop a bed of greens or as a sandwich spread.
