Anchovies have been enjoyed around the world since the days of early Rome. King Oscar anchovies are still created the old-fashioned way.

Our small, finest gourmet quality anchovies come from Morocco or Argentina, where they are fished responsibly from the Atlantic Ocean. After arriving in port, the fish are sorted, filleted, and skinned by skilled artisans, then naturally preserved in brine for 4 to 6 months. When fully “ripened,” the delicate fish are carefully taken out of the barrels and packed by hand into tins.

Unlike other brands, King Oscar’s gourmet anchovy fillets don’t contain bones and are free of any additives or preservatives. And because King Oscar anchovies aren’t heated or “retorted” during processing, they are semi-perishable and should be stored in a cool place or refrigerated for best quality, even in the unopened cans.
